We are super excited for the upcoming open house - this is our first open house so we don't know what to expect in terms of guests... but our first thoughts are all around SAFETY. If you will be visiting us:
For our safety, we ask that you:
Other thoughts:
And finally:
We look forward to seeing you on Saturday, May 23rd.
- wear appropriate clothing, including shoes for all-terrain (and yes, you may accidentally step in poop)
- the farm is outside - bring bug spray, sunscreen and/or brimmed hat
- if you have allergies - bring your medication, whether it is prescription, Epipen or over-the-counter - we have a first air kit, but it's always better to be prepared
- remember that all of our animals are nice - but no animals, no matter how nice or cute, should be trusted completely - with adults or children - they can nibble, bite or even kick
For our safety, we ask that you:
- consider our biosecurity - please wear clean clothes, clean shoes and do not visit other farms for at least 3 days beforehand; some animal diseases affect all species and some, if brought onto the farm soil, can never be eradicated - this is VERY serious. we want to share what we have and encourage others to learn - but it is a precarious balance for us between public education and biosecurity
- be respectful of our farm - do not chase or taunt the animals and please walk in the marked areas
- we live here, too - do not enter private areas
Other thoughts:
- a handicapped-accessible bathroom will be available
- drinking water will be available
- first aid kit will be on-site
- yes, you may bring your own snacks or packed lunches - we will not be selling any concessions
- no pets - please leave your pets at home - our dogs are trained to protect the farm against any non-familiar animals
- if you have a special guest or need help - just let us know in advance and we'll do our best to accomodate
- if you would like to purchase butchered pork cuts - please bring a cooler!
And finally:
- we want all of our guests to learn and enjoy themselves
- don't be afraid to ask us any kind of question
- we are grateful for all of the support we have from family, friends, neighbors, customers and local chefs - we could not do this alone
We look forward to seeing you on Saturday, May 23rd.
