Welcome to Grabishfarm!
We are a small, family farm in Northern California and raise heritage animals. All of our animals are raised outdoors. The animals all live what we hope is a wonderful life and those destined for meat are given the respect for a least painful, quick harvest. It's a continual learning process for us - the animals are amazing. Each animal (or bird) has different fencing issues, feeding needs - and of course, different temperaments. Some days it's difficult to maintain the perfect balance but it's always humbling to try.

In the words of Walt Whitman,
"I think I could turn and live awhile with the animals...they are
so placid and self-contained,
I stand and look at them sometimes half the day long.
They do not sweat and whine about their condition,
They do not lie awake in the dark and weep for their sins,
They do not make me sick discussing their duty to God,
Not one is dissatisfied....not one is demented with the mania
of owning things,
Not one kneels to another nor to his kind that lived thousands of
years ago,
Not one is respectable or industrious over the whole earth.
So they show their relations to me and I accept them;
They bring me tokens of myself....they evince them plainly in
their possession."
from v. 32 "Song of Myself",
Leaves of Grass, 1855.
